My name is Kris Porter. Many of you may know me from The Parrot Enrichment Activity Books. These books are available as free PDF downloads. If you don't already have the books, please click on "The Parrot Enrichment Activity Books" links below to download your free copy.
On the pages of this site you will find photos and videos of my parrots engaged in enrichment activities. I will also show you how to make many of the toys and playstands that I've found successful in keeping my flock active. Here is where I feel a need to explain about the background for some of the photos and videos you will be seeing. We are in the process of remodeling our home. My husband, Jerry, is doing much of the work himself. I've considered hiding the bare sheetrock walls, trimless windows, temporary plywood countertops, and other unslightly areas by covering them with a sheet. However, that isn't practical since my goal is to capture active parrots at play. More often than not, I have one chance to capture a parrot playing with a toy and no time to set the background beforehand.
My other choice is to wait until the work on the house is complete. Waiting until we finish the remodel will take another two years and I don't think any of us want to wait that long. So without further apologies for the state of my home, let's get started, shall we?

Just a few more words on what I'm hoping to accomplish with this site. I wanted a way to expand on the ideas presented in The Parrot Enrichment Activity Books available above. I'm going to do this here at this website with more photographs and better yet - videos. Where possible, I will try to show you a video of how I make a toy or provide you with a short downloadable pamphlet of detailed instructions on how to make the toy along with a video of a parrot actively playing with the toy. However, I don’t want the focus to be parrot toys.
My goal with this website is to cover all areas of parrot enrichment; foraging, training, nutrition, etc. Also provide video instruction on how you might encourage your own parrot to learn to forage or engage in enrichment activities both inside and outside the cage.
Over the course of the next few years, I plan to share all of my experiences with providing parrot enrichment to my own flock here with you at this website. I hope you will find reason to visit us often as the website will be improving overtime and new content will be added regularly. I will be able to format the majority of the information shared at this site in short video segments that you can watch or 2 to 3 page PDF instruction pamphlets you can easily download. I’m also planning on making a series of DVDs available for purchase at the Products page for those of you wanting access to more detailed step-by-step instructions that would be too large of a file format to upload to the website.
Hopefully, whether you are a new parrot owner or you have been living with parrots for several years, you will find information here that will enlighten and inspire you as well as help you with your own parrot enrichment goals.
