| CHOP
Click on the image left to download "Chop - Recipe One". I call it "Recipe One" because it is just one batch of "Chop". I imagine I will change it up a bit each time I make it and I will continue for the next few batches to write down everything I put in the batch and share those new recipes with you here also.
I am happy to do this if it helps those of you who need more exact measurements when you try a new recipe. I really like this "Chop Concept". And my parrots are liking "Chop" as well. I thought they would not like it after I froze it but that hasn't been the case at all. The combination of vegetables, grains and dry ingredients makes a mix that holds up well after freezing and thawing.

| Another Batch of CHOP
Click on the image left to download another recipe for Chop. This one is a simple list of proportions of grains; legumes; vegetables and dry ingredients I used to make Chop. It gets easier every time I make it and the parrots are liking it.
Both these recipes aren't intended for you to follow to the letter. Merely a guide to help you get started if you haven't made Chop. I hope you try making a batch of Chop. It is of course nutritious but it is also fun, easy and economical to make.
I posted this recipe before I took out one of the frozen bags, thawed and served it. This batch turned out a little on the wet side. But it is still good, see my blog post, "Fear Not the Wet Batch of CHOP".

| Curry Cornbread
If you click on the image, left, you will be able to view/download a recipe for a nutritious bird bread. I've shared this recipe with numerous parrot owners with great success. Most parrots like this bread. It is made of whole grain flours and contains no added sugar or fats.
I've also included a few photos of how I poke holes in the bread before baking and use the muffins to add to toys for more foraging opportunities.
It is important to use a whole grain stone ground cornmeal like Bob's Red Mill or similar product that you can find in the bulk bins, usually in the health food section of your grocery store. I don't use the boxed cornmeal mix like Jiffy or boxed cornmeal like Quaker that is enriched and degerminated in this bread.
Also, for the flour, try to find whole grain flours with more protein like, quinoa, garbanzo, lentil or spelt flours or a mix of those. You can also add ground flaxseed to the mix of flours.

| Veggie Salmon Patties
Click on the image, left, to download a recipe for salmon patties made with chopped vegetables. This is also a great recipe for you to try along with your parrots. I add curry powder or cayenne pepper or other seasonings to my taste and find it is good without added salt. These also freeze well.

FREEZING POMEGRANATE SEEDS
I often add pomegranates to skewers and my parrots are over the moon excited to get at this food toy. Pomegranates have such a short season so I Googled how to freeze pomegranates. I found the best way is to de-seed the pomegranate and freeze the seeds only. It turned out to be a huge success. This way, I can treat my parrots to pomegranate seeds throughout the year. If you want to see how I froze them, I've put together a short pamphlet illustrating how I de-seeded a pomegranate and froze the seeds. Click on the link below to view or download the pamphlet.

| Since writing the pamphlet, I've tried the 60 Second Pomegranate Deseeder and I must say it works as advertised. It provides a much easier method to access pomegranate seeds. To read more on how to store and serve frozen pomegranate seeds you might want to read this blog post, http://parrotenrichment.com/blog/2012/10/freezing-pomegranates/ .
A video of how the 60 Second Pomegranate Deseeder works can be found at, http://www.seedout.com/. There doesn't seem to be a store to purchase at this site, but I found mine at Amazon.com.
