FORAGING 101
I recently had the pleasure of bird sitting for two Pionus, Ivey and Hedwig.  I was told by their mom's that they hadn't much experience with food toys or foraging opportunities.  I had the good fortune to be able to demonstrate some beginning foraging that I'm able to share with you.

Click on the video to see how I made a beginning food toy for Ivey and Hedwig and watch their reaction to the new toy.

HOW TO SLOWLY BUILD COMPLEXITY

Here I attempt to show you how I slowly build more complexity into food and foraging toys for Irving.

Click on the video to watch how to progress from a simple food toy to a slightly more complex one.

 INTERMEDIATE FORAGERS

In this video I'm trying to show you what you could expect as you progress with incorporating more food and more shreddable items into the toys you make for your birds.  I also explain a little of how I would go about getting to the intermediate forager stage.  If you've got time please watch and listen to the end.

I'm dedicated to helping parrots by sharing my parrot enrichment ideas with parrot owners like you. If you would like to show your appreciation for this website please do so by paying it forward and donating to help support Phoenix Landing.

I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catchers mitt on both hands.  You need to be able to throw something back.

Phoenix Landing was created to help parrots have good homes across their entire lives, no matter how many homes that may be.  Parrots are resilient and adaptable, and will thrive in new environments if they have space, good nutrition, safety and behavior interactions based positive reinforcement.  Phoenix Landing is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to the quality of life for parrots.  Phoenix Landing re-homes parrots and help them to find a new family. This process is coupled with a robust education program, giving adopters many tools to help everyone succeed. For more information about Phoenix Landing go to www.phoenixlanding.org .
